Just arrived - I now officially have a 3-kit backlog, not including high power. This is from Boyce Aerospace Hobbies - link and pic below. I ordered the 2 stage kit which requires an electronic stage timer. 4 x D12-3 in booster and D12-3 or E9-4 in sustainer for 1100-1300' apogee. I got Mario's book a while back and was immediately "jonesing" for a Hercules. Apogee's plans for a mini model just weren't large enough. Flight prep instructions are great with required Cg measurements for a stable flight. This kit is easy so I won't include a build thread - Boyce carries quite a few "real rocket" kits like the Redstone Juno you don't see anywhere else.

Parts are 3d printed and have a very fine texture that needs to be dealt with, but instructions have a good technique video for this. Very well packed, no damage and very low possibility of it. Links to kit pics on Google drive. With some scale data and added detail, this could be a nice kit. It is also an easy build, level 3 max for the glues required. All of the transitions are done and all the fins are 3d printed. Nose is keyed so fins line up, etc. Not cheap but nice. Also got a Nike Christmas ornament in the box. Had no interest in 3d printing till now.

Almost shamefully easy for a hi-res scale kit of a difficult model. Anyone could build this with adequate care and some basic body tube cutting skills. The upscale Renegade HP I am building is a lot more work. Digging up history is fun and sometimes inadvertently funny. Check out the Revell Nike Hercules box art below. The city in the background on a kid's model - yikes :silly:

"Get those birds in the air boys!" In the immortal words of Slim Pickens: "It's time for toe-toe nuclear combat with the Rooskis!" From the movie Dr. Strangelove by Stanley Kubrick for younger folks.

I wish I had that kit unopened.

Scale Question on Ajax/Pershing/Hercules colors:

Is there any difference between "flat artillery olive" and "olive drab?" I've seen a couple Boyce kits painted and it looks like a slightly different color was used than Model Master olive drab.
