Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

We always appreciate kits for kids who may show up to our launches. We have enough for this make-n-taks as Estes has provided us with 100 kits and motors for the event. Anyone dealing with them should tell them thanks.

I heard about this on the A.M.O.R.E.A. facebook page. I'm not familiar with the Make-n-take process. I'd like some more information. I've been able to determine the following from the previous posts:

1. We will be building rockets.
2. We would be assisting people who most likely have never build a rocket.
3. The date is 10/07/17.

Now I need:
Time: ?
Place: ?
Could my 12 year son help?

Thanks,

Matt

Yes, we will be building rockets with people who have probably not built a rocket before. This will take place at the Academy of Model Aeronautics HQ, 5151 E. Memorial Drive, Muncie, IN. Activities run from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm (or so). We need to meet at the Aeromodeling Museum at about 11:00 am - 11:30 at the latest. There will be six activities for the day - we will handle two of them, build a rocket and fly a rocket. There will also be an air show. We need to have a couple of mid to low high power rockets to fly for the show. Let me know if you have something that would make a good demo flight.

Mario,

My son and I will attend the Make-n-take this Saturday. I'd be happy to bring a or a few rockets for demo flight assuming they meet your desires. We currently have 10 flyable rockets. The largest use up to E motors. We have some in building/painting. I'm hoping to have several of them ready for the AMOREA launch the following weekend.

I just checked the weather for Saturday. Three different sources are predicting 15-20 MPH winds. Certainly not the best conditions for launching rockets.

The event takes place regardless of the weather. We will be able to build rockets even if it is too windy to fly them.
