Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

I'm short a few components but they are on order. I have enough on hand to complete four pad controller boxes or enough to control 24 pads. With luck the missing components will show up in time for me to have all the pad controllers assembled and ready to test at the March launch.

I kicked the xfer rate up today and it seems to be working. I took the bandwidth from 125KHz to 500KHz so communication between the controller and pads should be quicker.

Mario - the system worked great. I was just a little concerned with max current limit for cluster launches but the 3 x 24mm cluster Jay launched worked great and all three ignited.

The 10 Amp breaker is not very fast-acting so the igniter circuit can draw more for the brief period that the pad is active. Additionally, the wires were selected to result in a 1-ohm resistance for the 12-foot lead length. Most igniters are designed to fire at 2 amps for 40ms so the 10-12 amps provided should do.

I'm making a list of things that need to be fixed on the launch system. In addition, I'm listing what needs to be changed and/or added. If you have any ideas, now's a good time to mention them./
