I guess this is partly my fault. I didn't tell the pad managers that the heavy pad with the 1515 rail can also take a 1010 rail. The box of parts has both size of rail locks that use a 5/16" bolt, which is the bolt size used on the large pad. It gives a sturdy mount with no wobble at all.

And if Trip had bothered to ask, someone could have addressed the problem he felt he was having. Replacing the pad he considered to be too wobbly with one just as wobbly wasn't a solution - it was just something that he could bitch about.

I was working the pads during the event and yes Trip was complaining. The pad he brought out was from Tim Van Milligan and it was a heavy one. I know because I carried it back from the launch sight to Tim's car. When trip was complaining about our pad wobbling I told him we needed to shim the pad because of the uneven surface. He didn't want to do this. He wanted Tim's. So when he brought out Tim's guess what? We had to shim the pad to make it sound. I have never met this person and my first impression was " What a Showboat". I too thought it was cheap shot at us, but I can tell you all, that 99% of everyone out there that I talked to love our pads. They loved the way they came down to load the rockets and the adjustment of their angle. The only thing I might suggest is to have a shim to place between the angle adjustment and the main body. Once we did this that rail was rock solid. They only complaint I heard that week was, we couldn't get enough power out to the far cells . If we could fix that when we use our wired system, it would have been perfect. All in all the people that I talked to had a very good time and that's what counts.

Politics determining correct operation of a flying vehicle instead of this guy's three laws... sounds like people. Next meeting, I'd like to hear about that.

Cheers / Robert
