Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

Just got back from a trip back east to visit relatives. Timing was right, so I went to an MMMSC launch in Berwick , Maine. They launch at Tuckahoe Turf farm on a huge field of turf. Sarah and I had a great time, putting up a mix of mid and low power rockets and I even launched my Excel38 (first time since I did my Level 1 cert on it) on an I245G. They had a bunch of launches, high and low power. Only picked up 3 ticks, which were all found and disposed of prior to them digging in. Field is great, unless you misjudge the wind and land in the trees, which pretty much surround the place. No beans or corn in sight.

If anybody gets back that way and has the chance, it was a great time. They don't allow sparkies except in the winter. Something about catching the turf on fire, which I imagine would not please the owners.

Unfortunately, no pictures. My skills there were much worse than usual.

Here is the tail end of Sarah's Ricochet launch. The trees are about 1800 ft away. They are also located about 100 feet behind the launch control (to the right of the launch pad) and about 3000-5000 ft to the east (left in the picture).
There is a small field of peas of some kind behind the launch pad, but mostly just turf.

Hi, Terry. I don't think I am going to try for level 2 just yet. I've not really launched a lot of high power shots and I am not ready to try dual deploy just yet. I suppose I could just get a big fat rocket and go with motor deploy, but not yet.
