Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

We have no 1515 rails at all, which is the next size up rail in use, unless its the 2020.

Talked to 8020. We can order online and pick up at their Columbia City location.
1010-S rails are $22.31 S is the smooth surface version of the standard rail, which is the same price)
1515-S rails are $51.41
(97 in long, 0.23/0.53 per inch)
T nuts for 1010 and 1515 are $0.79 each. Both are available with 1/4-20 threading. 1515 T nuts are also available in 5/16-18 threading. Or both in different metric flavors.

Given that we have on 1515 rail with one slot and maybe 4 or 5 1010 rails, we need to get some more.

We really only have 3 weeks to get these together, so hopefully someone will way in with an opinion.

Mark, how many nuts do we need to mount the rails and will your setup support the 1515 rails?

Just a ? on the 1515s....with the current waiver and power line constraints, would we really want rockets that big on the field?
Concerning the 1010's, I, for one, have been just putting 1010 rail buttons on my mid-power rockets instead of 1/4" launch lugs. So having a few more 1010's should be OK.

The SS option seems expensive to me at this time. If we go with the tiles for NARAM, we'll probably need quite a few extras in case they get broken in use. Just my thoughts as a noob to the section.

With regards to the 1515 rails, we had someone that needed one at the last launch, if the wind had cooperated. I would expect that a few people will have rockets that need them, even with the need to keep under the waiver altitude and away from the wires. I built my LOC Doorknob with buttons for both 1010 and 1515.

Thanks. Yes, I have done the same by putting both on not knowing what will be available at other launches. I've also put on backer T-nuts so that the buttons are interchangeable/replaceable.
