Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

Your call on that. I have no clue how many we’ll need.

If we have 200 flights a day fro 7 days, we would end up short. Extra cards can be used at our regular launches.

New equipment: Large Launcher (Blast Deflector) 1 year 8 months ago #2655

Purchased a single SS blast deflector for the 1515 rail setup: 18 x 24 inches,18ga. Good sized piece of metal. Let's see how it does. Cutting a notch so it goes around rail a little on every side, but it will be an 18x18 deflector on rail side that gets used. Whole thing will angle down, so exhaust goes away from rocket: put a bracket under it for support. Will make adjustments to subsequent purchases based on what we learn.

20 Launch Pads-Almost Complete 1 year 8 months ago #2659

After two 9 hour welding sessions, the 20 pads are almost finished. Just need to put the turnbuckle on the launcher heads and they will be ready for the range. Will then start on the Goliath launch pad for 1515 rail.

I will bring extra parts on Friday: retainer clips, welded thumb screws, nuts for turnbuckles. Also Mario's launchers and Jim Strum's tape measure.

If anyone has a package of shims (wood or metal)--bring them Friday for setup. Might need to level out launch pads, depending on the ground.
