Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

With a little luck, I may be there. If I can make it, I'll bring the new controller I'm working on for some initial testing. I don't think it's up to hosting a launch but we should be able to test it for overheating on the asphalt and the ability to fire a variety of igniters. We might use it to launch a few, too.

what would the group think about this launch site? I have talked to the AMA and they said we could use this site

That is the location we used to fly from. They moved us to be farther from the wires. I have been working with them to possibly return to this launch area but we're not ready to do that yet. Some changes will need to be made to ensure that we stay out of the wires. If you want to lose the use of the field drop one more rocket onto the wires.

It would also help to keep our contact with the AMA through one or two people so we don't get a bunch of crap going. Right now, that's me but Lee Berry has been filling in for me due to personal issues. If you think that needs to be changed, fine, we can do that but let's make sure whoever is coordinating with them understands why we do things the way we do.

I don't care who does it, I just want to launch, as well as other people

I heard through the grapevine that you had more important stuff than rockets going on
So We have just tried to step up and help out so we could launch

what needs to be done so we can launch at the proposed site?

I made arrangements with Lee Berry to handle dealing with the AMA in my absence. He has been doing a good job, I’m sorry that my wife’s cancer has inconvenienced you with your hobby.
