Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

BSA Troop 174 launch near Camp Atterbury 1 week 3 days ago #3146

If HPR is a go with clearance, I have a 38mm I500 blue thunder for the Mini-Magg, as well as a 1080RMS J825R (yikes). Will wait and see on the weather.
Apologies for missed mtg, executing honey-dos.

Cheers / Robert

Waiver for the launch is approved. Based on the clear area at the launch site, i would not want to go above 5000ft. Waiver is to 10000.
If anybody wants to ride down with me, let me know. I have our controller and a launch pad (forgot to get a 1/4 in rod, son I only have a 1010rail) that I will bring. Currently, weather looks cold but clear. This will change by then, I am guessing.

Took a ride down to Johnson county today. The area we will be launching in is about 2500 ft square, but is dotted with a bunch of trees and one power line and several abandoned or unoccupied buildings and shelters, so we may want to stay low. I will bring an expandable rod to use for tree recovery. The waiver is approved. Least complicated way to get there is down 31 (however you get to 31, then across 252 to the road with the sign for Camp Atterbury/Johnson County park and Hoosier horse park. Tested out our controller and it works on at least channel 1 on the 200 ft cable.

John: do you have assistance / many folks have said they'll be there? If you need an assist I can bring an Estes PVC pipe pad that has 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4" rods. No problemo. Going to be cold, suggest long johns, wool socks, and I will be bringing my Carhartt coveralls and gloves.

Vendor present? Also, have a 38mm DMS I-500T I would be willing to part with at cost if someone wants to do a large launch there. I'm going to waive on HPR though I may fly an MPR.

HI Robert,
No one has been able to go yet, so if you can come, that would be great. I have one of our 1010 rails and launch pad as well as controller. If you can bring a 1/4 in rod that would be nice. I am probably bringing my snake rocket and another smaller one. If you want, we could meet and drive down together. I plan to leave home about 7AM. Not sure how long i will be staying, but they will probably be launching rockets until 4PM.
There is no vendor there. There are two of the adults that want to do Level 1 certs. They already have motors and joined NAR. They will be providing food, but not sure exactly what
And yes, it looks like it will be cold.
