Welcome to IndyRockets

This site was created as a resource for anyone interested in hobby rocketry in central Indiana.

This is also the source for information on the Rocketeers Of Central Indiana (ROCI), Section #625 of The National Association of Rocketry (NAR). Feel free to check here for information about ROCIs launch events. The launch events are conducted throughout the warmer months at the Academy of Model Aeronautics' Headquarters and Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana. This facility is the finest flying field in the state and ROCI is proud to be the exclusive host of the rocketry events held there. ROCI is not currently conducting meetings as we have lost our meeting place.

If you do a workshop be sure to repair some household items. I fixed a generator and roto-tiller. But fixing a broken hairbrush and some other household things with epoxy greatly smooths the rocketry! Makes the stuff seem 'useful.'

Allan's update: I built 2 Eggtimer Apogee units. These are simple apogee deployment (baro) systems that can be used in small rockets on up. It's something you can use with the JL Chute release since it will be apogee based and not motor ejection timing based. Also, I built another Eggtimer Proton flight computer as a backup (I picked it up along with the Apogees at Cris' Black Fri sale). All seem to work! I also got one of his dataloggers for my Eggfinder. It takes a micro-SD card so that you can then dump the data into a program like Google Earth Pro for a plot. I'm still planning to use a RRC2+ in my booster for chute deployment. And I'm rethinking the sustainer motor mount size for several reasons. Looks like I'll be making another LOC order for a few more parts.

Dennis' Update:
I got the "barn" (room on the other side of the garage where I had been storing my tools and misc. stuff that was in the garage at our old house) cleared out and put most everything down in the basement. So that is now a much more comfortable and cozy home office for my wife. I mostly organized the basement and was able to get a decent rocket workspace set up. Anything big that requires power tools would have to happen someplace else, but I haven't really ever done anything that big to date, so I'm not worried about that. So 1 goal down, and if you look close, you can see that I did do a real quick, simple build. It's hip to be square.
