New launch equipment (pad numbers) 2 years 2 weeks ago #2607

I did my 4-H numbers by printing numbers on colored paper, then affixing the entire sheet to some foamcore, cut to same size as printed sheet. Then covered them with clear contact paper. Had them 8 years and they were still workable.

Blast Deflectors 2 years 2 weeks ago #2608

If we are going with ceramic blast deflectors, we need a brave volunteer to get the tiles (12in squares are cheap), a tile bit or two (1/4" and 1/2") and drill them.

A small drill press is best. Jim Strum suggested using a cooking pan with an inch or so of water in the bottom. Put something under the tile--so you don't drill through the pan--then put the tile under water to drill it. Keeps the bit cool, and aids cutting.

It's going to be all I can do to get 20 launch pads and rail connectors finished before NARAM. My mother's declining health makes it a juggling act.

New Rods 2 years 2 weeks ago #2609

I purchased four (4) 1/2" x 6ft launch rods, six (6) 3/8" x 6ft rods, and ten (10) 1/4" x 4ft rods. All stainless. That should be enough rods for NARAM.

I can get the ceramic tiles and drill them for the blast deflectors. Also i have two scales one is a small one and the other has a 25 lb weight limit. I can bring them if we need them.

Mark
Give me a call XXX-XXXX ac XXX. Also, if you are using 5/8 rod for the 1515 rails, will there be enough thread to engage in the t nut with a 3/4 in long bolt? I can get some longer ones at Fastenal or something. I need to get something flat for the standoffs anyway.

I will make the pad markers for the mid/high power pads if you are getting some for the low power pads, Mario. I can get a bunch of small boxes from work and attach the printed numbers to them. Will need something to weight them down though. Wont be as durable as the stuff Maark used but should work for a week.
