New Rods 2 years 2 months ago #2633

I have 32 1/2 " and 12 1/4 " blast shields made up. I would like to get together with whom ever has the rods to make sure they fit the holes. I have a 1/4 " rod here at home and it did not fit. after looking at it I had to file the end of the rod down, due to the way they cut it to size. I am free after 2 and can meet you where ever. I just don't want any surprises when we set up.

Bob, I have the new stainless steel rods. Can arrange to get them to you. I live near Lebanon, but work in Carmel. They are standard rod sizes. If you take any 1/4" or 1/2" metal rod from any store, if the tiles fit them, they will fit our rods. But if you want the actual rods we will use, I have them.

Jim Strum has the 1/2" rods we will use to attach rails. He is drilling them.

Verify 1010, 1515 Rail nuts and bolts 2 years 2 months ago #2636

John Kelley:
I believe you picked up the 1010, 1515 rails and the mounting hardware.

Jim Strum is going to drill the 1/2" and 5/8" rods for mounting the 1010 and 1515 rails. Jim would like a confirmation on the size of those nuts. Did you buy the #10-32 or the 1/4-20 threaded bolts for the 1010 rails? Did you buy the 1/4-20 or the 5/16-16 nuts for the 1515 rails?
Thanks!

LaunchPads: Status 2 years 2 months ago #2637

Jim came over (again) to help with launch pads. We finished cutting, deburring and grinding all the parts--have buckets of finished parts all over the shop area. Jim spent 18+ hours at the bandsaw, cutting parts for the pads--not counting time at the sander and cleaning the metal with solvents. Now to welding, which should move faster. Each pad has 21 welds-- 4 are done (all set screws). Goal is to finish them this weekend, then work on building a single, larger pad for the 1515 rail and heavy rockets.

If someone wants/needs the pads prior to set up day, I can load them in my enclosed trailer to deliver. They do take up more space than current pads. :)
