I have been looking into Missile Works RTx GPS.  It can be tethered to the RRC3 for telemetry and such - to me, that means it is in the avionics bay - I always thought that was a no no due to interference from the launch rail and it cause a GPS not to acquire satellites.  I have the same question into Missile Works.  What say ye all?

I use the Egg stuff although I do have a RRC3 along with several RR2CL's and RRC2+'s. I also have the LCD module and interface cables w software. I don't have their GPS. Most of our hobby GPS loose satellite lock on boost but pick it up coming down. Signal issues can occur with a lot of metal in the AV or use of a metal based paint on the ebay. Carbon fiber also attenuates signals. Think a Faraday cage. Metal all threads can be a problem attenuating signals.

Launch rail not a big problem. I always turn my GPS on at my car to have it start looking for satellites. If it doesn't pick up more than 4, I reboot it until I have at least 7. Then I head to the LSO. Even when on the pad, I can see what type of lock I have then. I've never had to scrub a flight due to lost GPS lock on the pad. Have scrubbed for other reason, of course.
